Kizomba vs Semba

Kizomba and Semba are intrinsically linked, with Semba serving as the foundation for Kizomba’s music and dance. Semba, the heart of Angolan traditional music, is an energetic, vibrant partner dance that often involves intricate footwork and lively body movements. It has roots in African rituals and was influenced by Portuguese colonial music.

While Kizomba retains many of Semba’s dance steps, it differentiates itself through its slower tempo and more sensual, flowing movements.
